Who do Leeds fans want to replace the departing Chris Wood?

Last season was one of real hope and optimism for Leeds fans, as the club were in the play off’s for much of the campaign, with capitulation in the last five games of the season eventually costing them a place in the top six.

However, even though ‘The Whites’ ended the season in dire form, the fans still had real hope for the first time in over a decade, and it looked like this season could be a really successful one, until former manager Garry Monk left for Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

However, the ship was steadied by new owner Andrea Radrizzani, who quickly appointed former Barcelona striker Thomas Christiansen from Cypriot side Apoel and he has settled in well, and has made an impressive start to his tenure at Elland Road, with ‘The Whites’ currently unbeaten, with three wins and two draws from all five games played this season in all competitions.

Last season New Zealand international striker Chris Wood was undoubtedly the standout player, scoring 27 league goals and finishing as top scorer in the Sky Bet Championship, but unfortunately for Leeds fans, the romance between the kiwi and the club have come to an end, with the 24-year-old leaving Elland Road for Premier League side Burnley for a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million, with the potential to rise to £18 million with add-ons.

Radrizzani has made a statement promising Leeds fans that the club will “reinvest the monies from the sale of Chris Wood to add to the 12 players already signed”, and there have been reports that Boro striker Rudy Gestede and NEC youngster Jay Roy Grot are on the list of potential new recruits.

However, what do Leeds fans make of these rumours? And who do they want to be the new main man at Elland Road?

Some are disappointed with the rumours regarding Middlesbrough man Rudy Gestede.

Fans from his former clubs, however, were quick to come to the striker’s aid, and disagreed with Leeds fans who suggested it would be a poor replacement for Wood.

Some fans also suggested who they would bring in if they had the power.

After an impressive start, the club will need to act fast to bring in replacements for Wood, and Leeds fans will be hoping that they sign another top goalscorer to help them push for promotion back to the Premier League, where they undoubtedly belong.
