Leeds United – 3 potential ways to spend the Wood millions

It is cut-and-dried, a fait accompli. The Chris Wood saga is done and dusted, with the big Kiwi set to join Premier League side Burnley – a medical set for tomorrow.

The Premier League side had been tracking Wood for a while now, the Clarets having two bids rebuffed by a resolute Whites. Burnley looked elsewhere, to Spain’s La Liga competition, but were knocked back there too.

Needing a striker to help assure Premier League survival, Burnley are looking for goals and Chris Wood has that potential in him. 30 goals across all competitions last season have marked him out as a wanted man, so much so that a rebuffed Burnley snapped back with a third bid, said to be a starting point of £15 million, and apparently have their man.

£15 million in today’s hyper-inflated market is but a mere drop in the ocean to a side in the Premier League like Burnley, a league awash with the Sky Sports billions. Still for a side like Leeds United, £15 million represents a mini-windfall that will more than buy a replacement.

But, just as there are many ways to skin a cat, there are also many ways that Leeds can spend that £15 million.

Here are three potential ways to spend the initial cash from the Wood sale, starting with the Viv Nicholson approach.
