French giants linked with move for Sunderland midfielder

French giants Lyon are understood to be weighing up a move for Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong according to the Sunderland Echo.

The 23-year-old Gabon international ace has played an important role for The Black Cats in their good start to the Sky Bet Championship season with the player featuring in all three league matches to date while he also made an appearance in the 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Bury at Gigg Lane.

It has now been reported that Ndong is attracting attention from France with Lyon thought to be considering a move for the midfielder. Sunderland will not want to lose the services of one of their most influential players however with the club currently struggling financially, Ndong will have his price tag.

The player started his career in Gabon with CS Sfaxien before joining French club Lorient on a four-and-a-half year deal in January 2015. Ndong went on to make 53 appearances for the then Ligue 1 outfit during a successful spell at the Stade du Moustoir.

Ndong joined current club Sunderland last summer in a deal reportedly worth around £13.6 million and the player has gone on to make 37 appearances for the Wearsiders, scoring one goal. The player has four years remaining on his current deal at The Stadium of Light and The Black Cats will not let Ndong leave on the cheap.
