Burton Albion in talks to sign Sheffield United defender

Burton Albion are in talks to bring Sheffield United’s John Brayford back to the club according to a report from Press Association journalist Sean Taylor.

The 29-year-old defender started his career at Burton when they were playing non-league football but he was able to make his return to the club last year when he signed for them on loan from Sheffield United. He once again became a fan favourite at the Pirelli Stadium during this time and he was able to help Burton to avoid being relegated from the Sky Bet Championship, something not many expected them to do at the start of the season.

But after his loan ended, he returned to Sheffield United where his future was uncertain after they had got promoted to the Championship and now shared a division with Burton. But it appears that Brayford will not be helping the Blades now that they are in this league and instead could soon make his stay at Burton a permanent one. This report says that the Brewers are currently in discussions with the defender and will be doing their best to make sure he is signed up before the end of the transfer window.

Should Brayford move back to Burton, he will be bringing with him all the experience he gathered since leaving them all the way back in 2008. Since then, he has played for the likes of Crewe Alexandra, Derby County and Cardiff City and was consistently a top performer for all of these sides. Now he could make a triumphant return to Burton by permanently signing for them.
