Wolves ‘target’ unaware of rumours linking him to Molineux

Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira has said that he doesn’t know anything about transfer rumours linking him to fellow Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to the August 15th print edition of Portuguese newspaper Record.

This statement comes after it was reported last weekend, in the print edition of The Sunday People, that Wolves were looking at spending £20 million on Oliveira and Jordan Rhodes of Sheffield Wednesday.

These rumours started to circulate after Oliveira vented his frustration at Canaries boss Daniel Farke after he scored against Fulham on the opening day of the season, having been named among the substitutes.

The former Benfica forward was once again named as a substitute, only coming on in the 68th minute, as Norwich lost 3-1 against Simon Grayson’s Sunderland at Carrow Road on Sunday.

However, the Portuguese international has claimed that he is unaware of any rumours linking him to Molineux. He said:

“I do not know about Wolves’ possible interest. I admire Nuno Espírito Santo as a coach and I even have friends at Wolves, but I’m happy at Norwich.”

This news will undoubtedly please Norwich fans, who see Oliveira as having a key role in their squad, as they bid to return to the Premier League, a division they vacated in 2016.

Meanwhile, it appears as though Wolves will have to look elsewhere to bolster their already formidable forward line.

Oliveira may feature for the Canaries tomorrow night, when they host Queens Park Rangers – Wolves are in action tonight, away at Hull City.
