Leeds United make approach for former striker who once scored 29 goals for them

Leeds United have made an enquiry about the availability of Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 30-year-old striker signed for Aston Villa last summer and was seen as one of their big marquee signings following their relegation from the Premier League. However things wouldn’t work out for either the player or the club. He failed to hit the form that made him into one of the best strikers in the Sky Bet Championship and soon off the pitch mattered distracted from his time in the West Midlands, including an incident where he failed to show for training as the gates at his home were struck.

It led to him being sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest for the second half of last season and now it appears that he will once again be heading out on a temporary deal. Sunderland were said to be interested in signing him but that deal doesn’t seem to have progressed over the last few weeks which would allow one of their rivals to snap him up. And it appears that a team McCormack is very familiar with is looking to be one of those teams.

The Scottish international was a fan favourite at Leeds during his time there, once scoring 29 goals in a season which marked him as one of the best in the league. He would eventually move away in a big money move to Fulham, but a return may now be on the cards. With Leeds worried they might lose current star striker Chris Wood to Burnley or West Bromwich Albion, they are eyeing up potential replacements. And with McCormack being the man before Wood came along, the West Yorkshire side have started talks with Aston Villa over him potentially coming to the club.
