Forest no closer to agreeing deal for Australian

Nottingham Forest are believed to be no closer to completing the signing of goalkeeper Adam Federici from English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth according to the Nottingham Post.

The 32-year-old Australian international stopper has been heavily linked with a move to The City Ground in recent days with The Reds boss Mark Warburton looking to bring new goalkeeping competition to the club.

It was reported that Forest were hoping to complete the signing of Federici prior to the trip to Brentford on Saturday however no deal was forthcoming and it is now thought that the player may not pass a medical at The City Ground with the keeper carrying a niggling injury.

Federici made just five appearances for AFC Bournemouth last season with the experienced keeper being used as back-up however the former Reading Player of the Season missed a large chunk of the campaign with a knee injury. It is believed that the player’s knee problem is still ongoing and that may now end Federici’s hopes of a move to Forest.

The Reds boss Warburton is hoping to bring in a new goalkeeper before the end of the summer transfer window and with Federici facing a continuous fitness battle, Forest cannot allow time for the player’s injury problems to heal.
