Birmingham City fans react to signing Isaac Vassell

The 23-year-old signed from League Two side Luton for an undisclosed fee. He has signed a four-year deal with the Blues. The striker will be eligible for Birmingham’s game against Bolton on Tuesday.

Bristol City were interested in signing Vassell, but he has chosen Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham over Lee Johnson’s side.

Vassell started his career with Plymouth Argyle. However, he found it difficult to break into the Argyle’s first-team, and he went out on loan to Truro, Bideford and Weymouth. He signed for Truro permanently in 2014. Vassell scored 28 times for Truro, and he was part of the team which won promotion from the Southern Premier Division.

The Newquay-born striker signed for Luton after a two-week trial with the club. Vassell scored 14 goals last season as Luton reached the League Two Play-Off Semi-Finals.

Here’s how Birmingham fans reacted to Vassell joining the Blues:

Vassell has become Harry Redknapp’s fifth signing of the summer. He joins new additions David Stockdale, Marc Roberts, Cheikh Ndoye and Craig Gardner at St Andrew’s.
