Forest’s promotion dream to face ultimate test in the coming weeks

Nottingham Forest fans can be forgiven for letting themselves rise off the ground after watching their side win all three of their opening domestic fixtures of the new campaign.

The Reds have beaten both Millwall (1-0) and Brentford (3-4) in the Sky Bet Championship while they dumped Sky Bet League One club Shrewsbury Town out of the Carabao Cup in midweek with a 2-1 success.

After witnessing some dark times at The City Ground of late, fans will be aiming to look up rather than down in 2017/2018.

Forest have not been particularly impressive during the first three matches of the season however the squad needs time to gel and in manager Mark Warburton they have a born winner who knows how to grind out results.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Sky Bet Championship table and their promotion credentials will be tested to the limit in the coming weeks with a number of tricky fixtures ahead.

Forest play a Barnsley side in poor form at Oakwell on Tuesday night but after that match, Warburton’s men entertain fancied sides Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham at The City Ground whilst just about every away day between now and the end of the year looks to be really challenging.

The Sky Bet Championship like any other division is about racking up wins and Forest will need to record some pretty impressive ones in the coming weeks if they are to maintain their position in and around the top six.
