Ipswich Town come from behind to beat Barnsley

Ipswich Town were able to come from behind to beat Barnsley 2-1 as they continued their winning start to the season.

Barnsley were able to bounce back from losing their opening game of the season with a thrilling 4-3 win over Morecambe in the Carabao Cup First Round. Ipswich have had a great start to the season, winning their opener before getting into the next round of the Carabao Cup after beating Luton Town 2-0.

It seemed like it would be the Tykes who would be getting the win as they got off to a bright spot which culminated in them getting the opening goal. While it was Tom Bradshaw who got the plaudits by scoring the goal, continuing his form from the match against Morecambe, a lot of the praise had to go to Ryan hedges who set up the goal with an impressive overhead kick. But no matter who gets talked about most for this goal, all that mattered was that Barnsley had the lead.

But Ipswich would fight back in the second half and get the all important win. The equaliser came when Jonas Knudsen sent in a great cross with David McGoldrick there in the box to volley it in with his left foot. And that winner came when Joe Garner followed up his opening day goal with an assist, setting up new signing Martyn Waghorn who was able to finish the move off and get the winner.

Barnsley slipped to 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship and have a home match against Nottingham Forest next. Ipswich however are now 4th and will be looking forward to their next match against Millwall.
