Earlier on today, Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to the media about his progress, and he looked ahead to the visit of Preston on Saturday.
The 21-year-old bagged a brace last week as Leeds ran out 3-2 winners against Bolton at the Macron Stadium. However, last season Phillips wasn’t given much game time. When Phillips was asked if it was tempting to go out on loan last season the Leeds born midfielder revealed: ” It’s always in the back of your mind. But I’m from Leeds and I love Leeds, so I don’t want to be playing anywhere else.”
But with the new manager Thomas Christiansen coming in it would seem like Phillips is getting more chances to impress. Phillips said this about the new gaffer “I believe with any coach I’ll always do my best so if he recognises that then I’ll play, but I’ll just keep working hard.”
After Leeds narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last season, the aim for the Whites this season will be at least a top six finish. The 21-year-old said this about last season “Last season was a great starting point to have belief in the squad. We know what we can achieve.”
The youngster then looked forward to the game on Saturday, and he stated “Preston, by all means, are a great team, and they’re very good attacking wise. They are also very organised so it should be a good game.”
