Sunderland have safely reached the Second Round of this season’s Carabao Cup after beating Sky Bet League One outfit Bury 1-0 at Gigg Lane.
The Black Cats dominated the proceedings in Lancashire but needed a second half strike from homegrown youngster George Honeyman to ensure their progress.
Sunderland have enjoyed a solid start to the season under the guidance of new manager Simon Grayson and after seeing the former Preston North End boss chalk up his first victory in charge of the Wearsiders at Gigg Lane, fans took to Twitter to give their views on the result.
