Barnsley’s Andy Yiadom is close to leaving the club as he is undergoing a medical at Huddersfield Town according to a report from the Yorkshire Post.
The Tykes knew that they might end up losing a lot of their top players this summer after an impressive outing last season and Yiadom was one of the players who always seemed likely to leave Oakwell. He was one of their better performers throughout the season as he was key in them avoiding a relegation battle and finishing 14th in the Sky Bet Championship table.
He had been linked with several teams throughout the summer including the likes of Reading and Swansea City but it appears that he will be staying in Yorkshire as he is close to completing a move to Huddersfield. This report says he is currently at the club undergoing a medical after the two sides agreed on a fee for player and should no problems be found in the examinations, he will complete a move to the Terriers and the Premier League.
Should Yiadom end up completing his move to Huddersfield as expected, it will be a great rags to riches tale. After starting his career in the Watford youth system, he ended up heading to non-league football and playing for Hayes and Yeading. He would then play for Braintree Town before moving on to Barnet, slowly progressing up the league ladder. He then signed for Barnsley in 2016 and had a great debut season with the Tykes, impressing enough to get him this move to the Premier League.
