Cole, Newport County snap up Brentford midfielder on loan

Newport County snap up Brentford midfielder on loan

Newport County have signed Reece Cole on loan from Brentford for six months as confirmed by the club website.

The 19-year-old midfielder came through the Brentford academy and is showing plenty of signs of promise with there being a belief he could break into their first team at some point. He performed very well in their B side last season, making 24 appearances and scoring six goals. This was enough for him to be handed his debut towards the end of the season.

But in order to improve as a player he needs regular playing time in competitive football and that means he needs to go out on loan. And now he has the loan deal he needs after signing a deal with Newport that will keep him at the club for the next six months. The Exiles are looking to once again finish well in Sky Bet League Two and signing up a talented young midfielder like Cole will help them to no end.

After completing his move, Cole said: “The gaffer really sold Newport County AFC to me.  He said he was going to be playing youth and there’s obviously a few experienced pro’s in here as well so hopefully it will be a good mixture.”

His new head coach Michael Flynn added: “I’m really pleased to get Reece in.  He comes in and offers good competition in midfield and I’m looking forward to see what he can do and looking forward to him fighting for a place in the starting line-up.”
