According to a report from Get West London, Sky Bet Championship side Brentford are set to receive around £1.9 million if Burnley striker Andre Gray moves to Watford.
The London club are reported to have a sell on clause in the 26-year-old’s contract, which means that they will profit if he is subject to a move, and it looks like the former Bees striker is set for an £18.5 million move to Premier League side Watford according to a report from The Daily Mail.
The Englishman started his career at the youth set up at Wolves, before moving to Shrewsbury Town in 2004, aged 13.
Gray spent five years at the youth set up at Shrewsbury before making the step up to the senior side in 2009.
However, he made just four appearances for the senior side, and had spells at Telford United and Hinckley United before arriving at Luton Town in 2012, which is where he first made his name.
He netted 47 in 88 appearances for Luton, and it allowed him to make the step up to the Football League, which he did in 2014 when he signed for Brentford.
He scored 18 in 47 for ‘The Bees’ before moving to Burnley in 2015, and has impressed in their successful spells in the Premier League.
The reported £1.9 million would be a huge help to Brentford, however, unfortunately for Brentford fans, in the Get West London report it states that the money will not be used to buy players as manager Dean Smith is happy with his squad.
‘The Bees’ had an impressive season last time out, and will be looking to build on that this season, and will be looking for all three points against Nottingham Forest this Saturday after losing 1-0 to Sheffield United on the opening day.
