With sides looking to either continue their good starts to their Championship season, or bounce back from early defeats, these are the match officials appointed for Saturday 12th August.
Barnsley v Ipswich Town
Taking the whistle for Barnsley’s first game of the season at Oakwell is Geoff Eltringham. The County Durham official took to the middle for Burton’s 1-0 loss at Cardiff last weekend, issuing just one yellow card at the Pirelli Stadium.
Mr Eltringham’s assistants for Saturday’s tie will be James Mainwaring and Nick Greenhalgh while the Fourth Official is Anthony Backhouse.
Birmingham City v Bristol City
Lancashire referee Darren Bond takes the reins for Birmingham’s home match against Bristol City. Bond officiated Wolves’ 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the weekend, issuing 3-0 yellow cards as Garry Monk’s promotion favourites were beaten.
Working alongside Mr Bond this weekend will be Jonathan Hunt and Mark Jones, while the Fourth Official is Mark Heywood.
Brentford v Nottingham Forest
James Linington takes the whistle for Mark Warburton’s side’s visit to London. Mr Linington issued a staggering five yellow cards in his opening League game during the 1-1 draw beetween Fulham and Norwich at Craven Cottage.
Running alongside Mr Linnington are Mark Russell and Lee Venamore. The Fourth Official will be Trevor Kettle.
Cardiff City v Aston Villa
Steve Bruce’s visit to Wales will be run by Tim Robinson. This will be the second time that Mr Robinson will have officiated a match including a Birmingham-based team, having officiated the 1-0 win for Ipswich Town over Birmingham last weekend.
Mr Robinson’s assistants will be Nick Hopton and Adam Matthews while Savvas Yianni will be the Fourth Official.
Derby County v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Lee Probert takes the reins at the Pride Park Arena for his first match refereeing in the Championship for the season.
Mr Probert’s assistants for the meeting will be Andrew Garratt and Dan Cook while Tony Harrington will be fourth official.
