Speaking to News At Den, Millwall left back James Meredith has revealed that supporters of former club Bradford City regularly send him snake emojis on Instagram. The 29-year-old rejected a new deal at Valley Parade over the summer to join the promoted Lions, but insists he finds any messages quite amusing!
After five seasons with the club, Meredith elected to link up with Millwall, who defeated Bradford in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final at Wembley in May. He insists he isn’t too concerned about the negative reaction from fans of his ex-club, insisting that making the step up into the Championship was the right thing to do at this point in his career.
Meredith, who came through the ranks at Derby County, revealed that Bantams fans certainly haven’t forgotten his summer transfer,
“They send snake emojis to me on Instagram. It is what it is. I did my job at Bradford for five years and I did it well. So I saw a good opportunity to play in the Championship.
“Neil (Harris) really sold me the club and I’m really happy I made the move. I’m loving it at the moment. I just want to keep working hard and progress.
“It doesn’t bother me. I’ve got thick skin so I can take it. I laugh at it when I see it.”
