Wolves are considering making a move to sign Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes according to a report from Page 62 of the August 6th print edition of The Sun on Sunday.
Over the last few weeks, Wolves have been trying to sign Sam Gallagher from Southampton. They really like the 21-year-old striker and even made an £8m bid for him as they looked to bring him to Molineux. However the Saints want to keep Gallagher around, even going so far to hand him a new long-term deal this summer, and want far more than £8m Wolves were offering, so rejected the deal.
Because of this, Wolves are considering moving onto another target and have been evaluating other strikers. One of the players they have been looking at recently is Jordan Rhodes, currently contracted to Sheffield Wednesday. He is one of the highest rated strikes in the Sky Bet Championship but things haven’t gone well for him since signing for the Owls back in the January transfer window. He only scored three times in eighteen appearances, nothing like the form he had for Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town in the past.
While he started yesterday as Wednesday slipped to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Preston North End, Wolves think they can lure him away considering he is yet to hit the form that made the Owls spend a club-record fee on him. But right now it doesn’t seem like the South Yorkshire club don’t want to sell a striker they are yet to see the best of, meaning Wolves might have to look elsewhere.
