Wolves willing to pay £8m for Southampton striker

Wolves are willing to pay £8m for Southampton’s Sam Gallagher according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

It’s been well known for a while that Wolves have been interested in signing Gallagher. The 21-year-old striker came through the famed Saints academy and while he has had several loan spells away from the St Mary’s Stadium, it doesn’t appear that he will be able to break into the first team at the moment. And even though he has signed a new contract recently, it has been suggested he is open to a move away.

And Wolves are so keen to make sure Gallagher is a regular at Molineux that they are willing to splash out a lot of money. While the Black Country club have shown they are willing to spend bid this summer, most notably by splashing £15m out on Ruben Neves, not many would have thought they would be willing to spend a lot on Gallagher. But this report suggests that they are willing to spend £8m to sign Gallagher which would make him one of the biggest signings for them this summer.

But even though this is a lot of money for a player that has only made a few appearances for Southampton, it is still not enough for the south coast club. They are looking for even more for the striker though it is not known whether Wolves will up their offer. Eventually they will need to consider Financial Fair Play rules and that may not allow them to increase their offer.
