Premier League winger reportedly on his way to Reading

According to a report from Wales Online, Reading are set to sign Swansea City winger Modou Barrow this summer.

The Gambian international, who has six caps for his national side and one goal, spent last season on loan at Sky Bet Championship rivals Leeds United, as he linked up with former Swansea City manager Gary Monk from January through to the remainder of that season.

However, the 24-year-old failed to make any impact at all at Elland Road, making just five appearances for the Yorkshire giants, and returned to Swansea at the end of the season.

However, Wales Online are reporting that even after his disappointing spell at Leeds, the winger could be set for a return to the Championship, but who is Modou Barrow and what would he bring to Reading?

Barrow started his career in Sweden, in the youth set up at Mjolby Al, before making the step up into the first team in 2010, where he scored six goals in 15 appearances.

He then moved around the Swedish divisions, playing for four other Swedish sides including Ostersunds FK, where he scored 10 goals in 19 appearances, and moved to Swansea City off the back of his impressive performances there.

Since arriving in Wales Barrow has made 51 appearances scoring one goal, and has spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and Leeds, however, only made a combined total appearances of 13 across all three spells.

The winger undoubtedly has a tremendous amount of pace, and is extremely effective in the right areas, and has the potential to be a real handful for Championship defences, and if he is given a chance, and is able to play a full season at Reading, I believe he will impress and will prove a good signing for ‘The Royals’.
