Barnsley and QPR in competition with Reading to sign Swansea City forward

Barnsley and QPR are now in the battle to sign Swansea City’s Modou Barrow alongside Reading according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

It had been a reported a while back that Reading were interested in signing Barrow. The 24-year-old winger looks like he will be unable to break back into the Swansea first team after an underwhelming loan spell with Leeds United where he only made five appearances. This lack of impact meant he was no help as the club just missed out on a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

But if Reading thought it might be easy to wrap up a deal for Barrow, they have another thing coming. Now two of their Championship rivals are in the chase to sign Barrow. Both Barnsley and QPR are now in the race to sign the Gambian international as they look to add a bit more excitement to their squads. The Tykes are hoping for a high-profile signing to show they can still mix it with the upper echelons of the Championship while QPR need as many top quality players as possible to prevent another mediocre year in the second tier.

With Reading being the most likely of the three teams to get promoted this season after they only just missed out last year following their play-off final loss to Huddersfield Town, it seems like they are still leading the race to sign Barrow. But if either of Barnsley or QPR can come up with a better bid, Barrow may end up playing there instead this season.
