Birmingham City and Leeds United make approach for Bristol City defender

Birmingham City and Leeds United have made approaches to sign Bristol City’s Aden Flint according to a report from the Daily Mirror.

Earlier this summer, it became clear that Bristol City would be open to selling their star defender this summer. However all of this depended on the Robins signing a replacement for him. And it appears that they have, with the club signing Nathan Baker from Aston Villa last week. They were able to get him thanks to the West Midlands club needing to get rid of players to make sure they abided by Financial Fair Play rules and it certainly ended up being great for Bristol City as they get a new star defender.

But this now opens the door for Flint to leave the club and two of Bristol City’s Sky Bet Championship rivals have now made moves to try and sign him. Both Birmingham City and Leeds United are reported to have started talks with the club as both look to improve their defences ahead of promotion chases next season. It will be a tough choice for Flint as well because both teams will be offering much higher wages than what he is currently on.

If Flint was to head to Birmingham, he could end up being a replacement for Ryan Shotton who is being linked with a move to Middlesbrough. However should he sign for Leeds, Flint would end up filling in for Kyle Bartley who will not be heading back to Elland Road after his great loan spell at the club last season.
