Birmingham City midfielder loaned to Spanish outfit

Birmingham City midfielder Diego Fabbrini has completed a move to Spanish Segunda Division club Real Oviedo on a season-long loan deal according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 26-year-old Italian midfielder has struggled to make an impact at St Andrews since joining Birmingham City from Watford in a reported £1.5 million deal in January 2016.

Fabbrini spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian club Spezia however the player failed to impress at the Stadio Alberto Picco and the midfielder has not grabbed a second chance with parent club Birmingham City during pre-season.

It has now been reported that Fabbrini will spend the next 11 months with Spanish club Real Oviedo as he attempts to relaunch his career. The Blues finished in the top half of the table in the Spanish second tier last season and should again do well this term.

Fabbrini has made just 23 appearances for Birmingham City and has not scored a single goal for the Sky Bet Championship club. The player has two years remaining on his current deal at St Andrews and should the midfielder impress in Spain, there is a chance that the loan deal could be made permanent.

The Italian had a short loan spell with Birmingham City during the 2014/2015 campaign while he has also featured for both Millwall and Middlesbrough.
