Former Leeds and Forest striker linked with moves to four Championship sides

Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack is reportedly being tracked by four Championship clubs, according to the Derby Telegraph.

Derby County are the latest club to be linked with the 30-year-old forward, with relegated Sunderland and Hull City also said to be keen, along with last season’s play-off finalists Reading.

McCormack has been perennially linked with a move away from Villa Park since joining the club last summer in a reported £12 million deal.

He failed to make an impression on Villa’s first team last season; he only made 12 appearances in all competitions for Steve Bruce’s side, managing a measly three goals.

The Scottish international was pushed even further down the pecking order in the West Midlands with the arrivals of Bristol City talisman Jonathan Kodjia and Brentford’s Scott Hogan and was shipped out on loan to strugglers Nottingham Forest.

His poor form carried over to his new club; while with the Reds he only played seven times, scoring once, and was the subject of widespread ridicule when he failed to report for training for three weeks, apparently due to the gates at his house failing to work.

McCormack made a name for himself in the Championship with former club Leeds United.

He scored a whopping 29 goals in all competitions for the Whites in 2013/14, and was rewarded with a big-money move to divisional rivals Fulham for a reported £11 million fee.

While initially struggling at the West London club, he went on to become part of a formidable strike partnership with Moussa Dembele before joining the Villains at the beginning of last season.
