Nottingham Forest linked with move for veteran keeper

Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton is understood to be weighing up a move for free agent Cedric Carrasso according to the Nottingham Post.

The 35-year-old Avignon born goalkeeper is looking for a new club after leaving French club Bordeaux last month and the player is thought to be attracting interest from England.

It has been reported that Forest could be searching for goalkeeping cover with Stephen Henderson struggling for fitness and Vladimir Stojkovic being ready to leave the club and Carrasso’s experience could make him a worthwhile target.

The once-capped former French international goalkeeper started his senior career with Ligue 1 giants Marseille and was loaned out to then English second tier side Crystal Palace for a short spell. Upon his return to the Stade Velodrome, the player went on to make 78 appearances for The Olympians whilst also being loaned to Guingamp.

Carrasso spent a season with Toulouse after leaving Marseille before joining Bordeaux in summer 2009 for a near £8 million transfer fee. The keeper enjoyed eight seasons with The Girondins in which he made 314 appearances.

With the player having been in squads which have featured in huge competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup, Carrasso has enjoyed a high profile career and the keeper can still challenge for regular first team football.
