Wolves confident of signing Southampton striker despite competition from Championship rivals

Wolves are confident that they will beat several of their rivals to the signature of Southampton’s Sam Gallagher according to a report from the Express & Star.

The 21-year-old striker is coming off the back of a solid loan spell with Blackburn where he scored 11 goals in 42 appearances and was one of their better performers throughout the season. However he was unable to stop the club from being relegated to Sky Bet League One. Even though this spell was good for Gallagher, it wasn’t enough to get him into the Southampton first team and instead will be loaned out again to continue his development even though he signed a new four-year contract earlier in the summer.

This has led to a lot of interest in Gallagher as the likes of Birmingham City, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have all been linked with a move during the summer. Wolves are another one of the teams who have been named in these reports and are looking to sign him on loan. They are looking to add a lot of quality to their squad to make sure they are in the promotion battle this time around and while Gallagher wouldn’t be the biggest name they sign this summer, it’d certainly be an impressive one.

And Wolves believe they will be the team that sign him. The Black Country club are very confident that they will be able to sign him even with all the competition for his signature, meaning they could well have a young talented forward in their squad for next season.
