Aston Villa

Aston Villa defender could be joining Turkish side

Aly Cissokho could be on his way to Yeni Malatyaspor according to TalkSport. The left-back only played twelve games for Villa last year, and he spent time on loan with Greek side Olympiacos.

Cissokho is not part of Steve Bruce’s plans, and the left-back is looking for a way out of Villa Park. He has been linked with a move to Turkish side Goztepe earlier this month, but nothing has materialised.

The 29-year-old was rumoured to return to Olympiacos however this now looks unlikely. It is being reported that the Frenchman has agreed a two-year deal with Yeni Malatyaspor who were promoted to the Super League last season.

Cissokho started his career with FC Gueugnon. He spent a season with the club before signing for Vitoria Setubal. Once again he only spent a season with the club. He signed for Portuguese giants Porto in January 2009. His impressive displays attracted the attention of Lyon. He signed for Lyon in the summer of 2009. Cissokho spent three seasons at Lyon, and he played 91 times for the French club.

In 2012 Cissokho signed for Valencia. He played 23 times in the 2012-13 campaign, and he scored twice. He went out on loan to Liverpool for the 2013-14 season. The Frenchman only played fifteen times for Liverpool as he fell out of favour for the second-half of the season. Cissokho signed for Villa in 2014, and he has spent three seasons at the club.

The experienced left-back has played all over Europe, but he has never played in Turkey. He will add experience to Yeni Malatyaspor which is what the club needs in order to survive in the Super League.

While Villa will see this as getting rid of deadwood. The club will be looking for promotion back to the Premier League after relegation in 2016.
