Accrington Stanley complete deal for Barnsley striker

Accrington Stanley have signed Kayden Jackson from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 23-year-old striker only signed for Barnsley last season from Wrexham. But he was never given a chance to break into their first team and instead went straight out on loan, signing for Grimsby Town on loan just a short while after making his move to Barnsley. However this would not be a great spell for him as he would only score once in twenty games in the league and Grimsby elected to end his loan in February, three months before it was supposed to.

And now Jackson will never make his debut for Barnsley as has completed a move to Accrington where he has signed a two-year contract. He may have had an underwhelming time with the Mariners but now that he is in Lancashire, he will be hoping to make an impact and push the team further up the Sky Bet League Two table.

After signing for Accrington, Jackson said: “I enjoyed it at Grimsby but the change of manager messed it up for me personally. It was a good spell, I went out  and played games and scored goals but I didn’t get as many goals as I would have liked. I was playing on the wing mostly and felt like a left wing back at times and things changed with the switch of managers.”

“I spoke to Barnsley in the summer and, at the end of the day, it was my decision to come out and get a couple of games at Accrington Stanley.”

“I originally came for two games to try and impress and then got called to feature against Preston as well.”

“It was hard especially when you haven’t trained with the team but I worked hard and did what I could in the Huddersfield game and the same with the Everton one.”

“Then it’s been a case of waiting for my future to be sorted. One minute, I have been heading down south to sign for a club but when I heard Accrington wanted me I was delighted.”
