MK Dons snap up Southampton striker on loan

MK Dons have signed Ryan Seager on loan from Southampton for the season as confirmed by the club website.

The Southampton academy has produced a lot of brilliant players over the last few years and there is a lot of hope from their coaching staff that he could break into their first team at some point in the future. He has only ever been on loan spell away from the St Mary’s Stadium before when he had a short spell with Crewe Alexandra that cut short when he ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament.

But now Seager will get a chance to play regular first team football again now that he has signed a deal to play for MK Dons for the season. The Dons have also got a good record at bringing youngsters through and could be the perfect place for the 21-year-old striker to continue his development and show why he should be a first team player at Southampton.

After confirming his move to MK Dons, Seager said: “I’m really happy to be here and I’m excited by the challenge ahead. I’ve heard good things about MK Dons and I just can’t wait to get started.”

His new head coach Robbie Neilson added: “We’re really pleased to get him. He is a top prospect at Southampton, who are renowned for their great work with developing players.

“I expect him to fit in well and score goals.”

Seager could make his debut for MK Dons tonight in a friendly against Coventry City.
