Bundesliga giants monitoring Sheffield United youngster

German side RB Leipzig are monitoring Sheffield United’s David Brooks, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old made his professional debut in an EFL Trophy fixture against Leicester U23s last term and went on to make a further three appearances for the Blades but is yet to boast a league appearance to his name. However, perhaps Brooks’ finest performances of his short career came in this summer’s Toulon Tournament, as the midfielder shot into the public eye with the England U20s team in France. Brooks was a vital player as the young Lions won the competition, with the midfielder being named Player of the Tournament.

The success on the international stage quickly boosted the youngster’s profile and a number of high profile clubs have shown interest in the midfielder. Premier League club Everton, who signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Bramall Lane last year, are widely known to be admirers of David Brooks.

It is now reported that Bundesliga club RB Leipzig were impressed with the Blade’s performances in France this year and are now monitoring his progress. This could be bad news for the Sheffield United faithful, as the Bulls are not short of cash and have a track record of signing British talent. Leipzig signed Nottingham Forest youngster Oliver Burke for a reported £13 million fee last season.

The German club finished second in the Bundesliga last term and will enter the 2017/18 Champions League, just eight years after being founded. The high-profile club are hungry for young talent and David Brooks certainly provides that.
