Fulham have bid rejected for Birmingham City forward

Fulham have had a £5 million bid rejected for Birmingham City attacker Che Adams which has led to the Blues opening contract talks, according to The Daily Mail.

Slavisa Jokanovic identified the 21 year old as a key target this summer but Harry Redknapp has made his intentions clear that he wants to keep him. In 40 appearances last season Adams netted on seven occasions, goals which helped barely keep the Midlands side up. However they are looking to build a squad capable of being a lot more stable ahead of the forthcoming season.

Fulham may look to offload Sone Aluko to Reading to be able to put in a better offer, recent reports have suggested. The Cottagers are also looking to revamp their side after their failed play off bid, they’ll be looking to go one better this season and think Adams is part of the key to achieve this.

Adams has gone through a Jamie Vardy style rise, being released by Coventry City’s youth academy age 15, he had to go through Oadby and Ilkeston before his big move to Sheffield United in 2014. Last summer he made the switch to Birmingham for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be in the region of about £2 million.

He also represented England at the u20 level on 2 occasions in 2015. But having just turned 21, he’s still got a few years to develop and should his career go well he may end up representing the senior side at some stage. Only time will tell if he goes for this with The Blues or elsewhere.
