Charlton Athletic are considering making a move for Bristol City’s Scott Golbourne according to a report from Kent Live.
Head coach Karl Robinson is now getting his first summer in charge of Charlton and he is looking to make sure they don’t have another disappointing season like last time out. This is why he is looking to seriously strengthen the squad this summer so he can have a team that can challenge for promotion from Sky Bet League One this time around and so they aren’t stuck in mid-table mediocrity.
One position that Charlton have been looking to improve is left-back and in recent weeks they have been looking to complete a deal to sign Jay Dasilva on loan from Chelsea. However smartly, the Addicks are not putting all their eggs in one basket and are looking at other targets in case that move does not work out. And the player they look set to move onto should they not sign Dasilva is currently playing for Bristol City.
They have been taking a closer look at Golbourne in recent weeks and could make a move for him soon, though it would most likely only be a loan move rather than a permanent deal like some might want. He only signed for Bristol City last year, marking it as his second spell at the club however he was not a solid first teamer and ended up being used only some of the time. This may make him open for a move away and helping Charlton in their attempt to get promoted could be a good use of his skills.
