French news outlet Foot Mercato have reported that Leeds United are interested in signing free agent defender Harold Voyer as a defensive partner for Swedish talisman Pontus Jansson this summer following his release from French giants Paris Saint Germain last month.
Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen has been on the lookout for a new centre back following the end of Swansea defender Kyle Bartley’s successful loan spell with The Whites, and since then the Yorkshire club have been linked with multiple defenders from across Europe.
Following the departure of Charlie Taylor on top of that, Leeds’ back line looks slightly thin on the ground, and with just 3 weeks to go until the start of the new Championship season, Christiansen will be keen to tie up a deal for a new defender as soon as possible.
Bristol City’s towering centre half Aden Flint was linked with a move to Elland Road earlier this week to become Pontus Jansson’s new centre back partner, but now French media outlets are claiming the Championship giants are looking at French defender Harold Voyer as a potential candidate for the spot.
The young centre half is a France under 19 international and was highly rated by those involved in the PSG youth setup, but with the wealth of depth in the PSG first team, it became clear Voyer wouldn’t make it at the French club, and was released last month.
Premier League side Newcastle are keen on the 20-year-old, but Leeds are set to battle The Magpies for the Frenchman’s signature.
