Scouts of Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough are thought to be monitoring the development of York City striker Ryan Edmondson according to the York Press.
The 16-year-old hotshot has impressed at academy level for The Minstermen and is tipped for a bright future in the game.
It has been reported that Middlesbrough are admirers of the teenager and are watching the player closely as he continues to work towards breaking into the senior squad at Bootham Crescent.
Edmondson is yet to make his first team debut for the National League North outfit however the youngster has impressed in two recent pre-season friendly outings for Gary Mills’ side. The striker has shown a keen eye for goal and has been unlucky not to score for York City in those pre-season friendly matches, particularly in the 4-1 victory at Farsley Celtic last weekend.
The youngster has a real presence in the opposition box and his build can only help him succeed in the game. York City have hopes that Edmondson can become the club’s greatest academy product since midfielder Ben Godfrey made the step up to the first team before joining Norwich City for an undisclosed fee 18 months ago.
Middlesbrough have an excellent record at academy level and the Teessiders could opt to move for Edmondson should he continue to impress.
