Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley has revealed that he is hopeful of adding to his squad later today. Speaking to the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Sport Facebook page, the former Braintree Town boss is confident that he’ll have some fresh faces to integrate into his title-winning squad.
The Vanarama National League champions have added Matt Green, Josh Vickers and Ollie Palmer to the group, in addition to re-signing Billy Knott and Josh Ginnelly, who ended last season with the Imps. Tonight, Lincoln take on Benfica B in a friendly clash during their pre-season training camp in Portugal, one of two matches they’ll take in on the tour.
Cowley confirmed that the game tonight will be split into three 30-minute sections, with each member of his squad playing at least one hour of the game. Benfica B recently took on Lincoln’s League Two rivals Chesterfield, drawing 0-0.
Focusing on new recruits, Cowley said that he’d have ideally added more new faces to his team by now, but said that two may join later today, and that if they do, they’ll fly out to link up with their new teammates,
“We were hoping to do something yesterday and it hasn’t quite happened yet. These things certainly take longer than my patience! It’s just the nature of it and we’ll still working hard.
“We’re hoping to have one, maybe two, done by the end of play today. If we can, we’ll look to fly them out, and get them to integrate with the squad as quickly as we can.”
The Imps have been heavily linked with a move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Regan Booty.
