Norwich City sign Middlesbrough defender for undisclosed fee

Norwich City have signed James Husband from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 23-year-old defender joined Middlesbrough back in 2014 but has always struggled to break into the first team at the Riverside. He was unable to oust fellow Doncaster Rovers alum George Friend from the starting spot and would only make a paltry eight appearances while up in Teesside. Instead he had to go out on loan to clubs such as Fulham and Huddersfield Town to get some time on the pitch.

But his time at Middlesbrough has now come to an end after he completed a move to Norwich for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal with the Norfolk club. He will hope to become a regular in the first team for the Canaries and help the club get promoted back to the Premier League after a disappointing season last year. He’d also most likely enjoy getting one over on his former team who will also be battling for promotion this season.

After completing his move to Norwich, Husband said: “I’m delighted to join such a big football club. First and foremost I’ve come here to play football and to enjoy my time as much as possible. The main thing is to try and get Norwich up the league as far as we can go.”

“Everyone seems lovely and welcoming and I’m looking forward to my time here.”

His new head coach Daniel Farke added: “James is quick, he’s technically good and knows how to defend. There are some things he needs to improve but he’s young and his attitude and character are excellent.”

“He’s a young guy with lots of potential, but he also already has strong experience of playing in the Championship. He’s an excellent fit for our squad.”
