Watkins, Brentford to try and sign Leeds United target again

Brentford to try and sign Leeds United target again

Brentford are set to try and sign Exeter City’s Ollie Watkins again according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 21-year-old striker was one of the stars of the season last time around, leading Exeter to the Sky Bet League Two play-off final by scoring sixteen goals and while they didn’t win that massive game at Wembley, Watkins was able to walk away with a personal honour after winning the EFL Young Player of the Season Award. But with Exeter still stuck in the bottom tier of the Football League, plenty of teams have become interested in Watkins.

Both Aston Villa and Leeds United have been big name teams looking to swoop for Watkins in the summer after failing to get him during the January transfer window but now they have been joined by another team who have been looking to sign him for a while. Brentford had tried to sign the Torbay born forward at the start of the year and while they failed back then, they are confident that this time around they will be able to sign him up.

The Bees have had success from signing players from lower down the leagues before, most notably Scott Hogan who after recovering from two years of injuries became one of the best strikers in the league before moving onto Aston Villa for a massive fee. And the West London club are very impressed with Watkins and believe he could very quickly become a key player for them as they challenge for the play-offs.
