Murphy, 5 potential replacements for Newcastle-bound Jacob Murphy at Norwich City

5 potential replacements for Newcastle-bound Jacob Murphy at Norwich City

Reports emerged this week that 22-year-old Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy was close to an £8.5 million move to recently promoted Premier League side Newcastle United.

Murphy established himself in the first team last season, scoring 8 goals in 37 games for The Canaries in his breakthrough season as Norwich laboured to an 8th placed finish in what was a disappointing season for the club.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is keen to bolster his squad ahead of The Magpies’ Premier League return and after adding Eibar defender Florian Lejeune to the squad already, Murphy is the next target Benitez hopes to snap up.

The England under-21 international had previously spent 6 loan spells with the likes of Coventry City, Southend United and Blackpool in search of first team opportunities, but after a solid season both domestically and internationally, Murphy seems set for bigger things, and the move to Newcastle should be completed soon.

With Murphy on his way out, Daniel Farke will have a tough job on his hands sorting a replacement for the youngster, so here are 5 potential replacements for the 22-year-old winger.
