Canaries boss wants striker to stay at Carrow Road

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has confirmed that he hopes that striker Nelson Oliveira will remain with the club according to the Norwich Evening News.

The 25-year-old Portuguese frontman netted 15 goals in 27 matches in all competitions for The Canaries last season and is attracting transfer interest this summer.

It has been reported that Sky Bet Championship rivals Reading have had a transfer bid accepted by Norwich City but despite the speculation surrounding Oliveira’s future it is thought that Canaries boss Farke would like the player to remain at Carrow Road.

Oliveira scored for Norwich City in a 5-1 victory at non-league outfit Lowestoft Town on Saturday afternoon and all seems well in the camp ahead of the new campaign.

The Barcelos born frontman started his career in his homeland with Benfica while he has been loaned out to a whole host of clubs earlier in his career including Deportivo La Coruna, Rennes, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest.

In August 2016, the striker joined Norwich City from Benfica for an undisclosed fee and the player was a regular goalscorer for The Canaries in his first season with the club.

The player has been out of the international picture for the past two years and it can be argued that a move to Reading would do little to enhance his chances of an international call-up.
