Willy Boly has signed for Wolves on a season-long loan deal. The 26-year-old played five games for Porto last season.
The centre-back started his senior career with Auxerre and he made 97 first-team appearances for the club. After impressing while he was with Auxerre, Boly moved on to Braga. He spent his first year with the club in the B team. He made 25 appearances for Braga before moving on to FC Porto. However, he only managed four league appearances for Porto last year.
The French centre-back revealed that playing in England was a dream and he was delighted to join Wolves. Boly said, ” I’m happy to come to Wolves, I want to play well with this club and I want to make history here.” He added ” I love this country. I have always wanted to play here in England and now it’s a dream come true for me.”
While he was with the Porto he worked under Head Coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Boly admitted that working under him again was a big factor in him coming to Wolves. The 26-year-old said, ” It’s good for me because I already know the coach, I know the way that he works and that was a big factor in me coming to Wolves.”
Boly is the fifth defender to sign for Wolves this summer. Roderick Miranda, Ryan Bennett, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh and Barry Douglas have all signed for the Championship side.
Boly is the second signing of the day with Ruben Neves also signing for the club. Neves signed for a club record £15.8 Million.
