Sheffield United are still interested in Wolves defender

It’s being reported that Chris Wilder is still interested in signing Ethan Ebanks-Landell despite signing Richard Stearman.

Sheffield United signed their fifth player of the summer on Thursday. Richard Stearman joined from Fulham for an undisclosed fee. He joins new signings, Ched Evans. Nathan Thomas, Enda Stevens and George Baldock. However, Wilder has stated that their transfer business isn’t done yet.

The Blades have also been heavily linked with former loanee Ethan Ebanks-Landell. His form for United last year has prompted Wilder to try to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent basis. Ebanks-Landell played 34 League One games last year and scored five goals in the process.

When Wilder was asked if the club has made contact with Wolves about the potential signing Wilder said: ” We have made contact.” He added, ” Numbers get banded around at this stage but it’s when players come back for training properly  I think things start to happen.”

Ethan Ebanks-Landell has made 42 appearances for Wolves over a seven-year period. The 24-year-old has also spent time on loan at Bury in the 2012-13 campaign. He has racked up over 90 appearances so far in his career with most of them being in League One.

But with Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Stearman, both playing in the same position many people thought that United’s interest in the player had gone. However, according to the Sheffield Star, the move could still be on. The players future has been unclear since the departure of Paul Lambert who was instrumental in persuading the player to sign a new deal with the club.
