Although Hockaday has not been the bookies favourite to take the job since the departure of Brian McDermott, he is an ideal candidate for United owner Massimo Cellino. Cellino has said all along about his intentions of bringing an Englishman in, and, true to his word, it’s happened. He has got his wish. Cellino said on June 5th, “I have always said I wanted a British coach for this club. I am a man of my word and that is still the case.”
