Northampton Town manager Justin Edinburgh says he wants 6 more additions to his squad before he will be happy with it, for their upcoming campaign in Sky Bet League 1, according to The Northampton Chronicle.
Northampton, who finished a steady 16th last season in their first season back in League One, will be looking to add to their squad to try to push and finish higher up the table.
‘The Cobblers’ have already made two additions, signing striker Dean Bowditch from MK Dons, and midfielder Yaser Kasim from Swindon Town, but they aren’t done there according to the man at the helm.
For starters, central defenders is an area where the club are massively lacking, with just one first team centre-back on the books at the Sixfields Stadium in the shape of Leon Barnett.
However the former Gillingham boss has issued a message to ease the worry for all Northampton fans, he said: “Everybody will be wanting to concentrate on central defenders, and we are.
“We are very serious about that and we understand the importance of it, and we hope that things start to fall into place, and I believe as every day comes along we get closer.”
On whether there would be any more new faces at Northampton, Edinburgh said: “I have always said if the right player is available then we will look at it, and we are in talks with one or two in the midfield and attacking area.
“Ideally, we need a goalkeeper, three central defenders, maybe another midfielder and another forward player, and then I will be a happy man.”
