Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town have completed a deal to bring Bersant Celina to Portman Road on a loan deal.
The 20-year-old has made four appearances for Manchester City’s first team and spent last season on-loan at Dutch side FC Twente, but now moves to Ipswich on a season-long loan move.
The trick winger began his career as a youngster with Norwegian side Strømsgodset before moving to England to join City’s youth development system in 2012. Celina signed a three-year deal with the Etihad side in July 2014 but, due to an injury which required surgery, he remained with the youth side while going through rehabilitation.
The 20-year-old now moves to Portman Road on loan and will join his new team-mates on a training camp in Ireland this week.
The Tractor Boys were forced to fight off competition from a number of clubs to sign the youngster who is on a long-term contract at the Etihad.
“I’m really pleased to be here and I’m looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates, the staff and everyone at the Club,” Bersant told the Club Website.
“Ipswich is a big club, has a big history and it’s a good place for me to be at this moment.
“I’ve had a break but now I can’t wait to get going – to train with the players and to put on the shirt and play for the team.
“I had a good loan spell in Holland last season. That helped me become a better player and hopefully it can be the same here. I’m looking forward to doing what I can to help the team.”
