Championship side surpass 4,000 tickets sales for away pre-season friendly

Notts County chairman Alan Hardy has revealed on Twitter that Nottingham Forest supporters have snapped up over 4,000 tickets for the pre-season friendly game between the clubs. The Nottingham Derby takes place at Meadow Lane on Wednesday 19th July.

Forest supporters have been allocated the entire Jimmy Sirrell Stand, and have so far took up every ticket on offer for travelling fans. However the Nottingham Post understands that an additional 348 tickets have been made available.

Both clubs in the city are separated by the River Trent, with a pre-season game between the two starting to become more of a regular occurrence. As part of Mike Edwards’ testimonial, Forest defeated County 2-1 last season in front of over 9,000 fans at Meadow Lane. The last competitive meeting between the two was all the way back in 2011 in a League Cup tie, which Forest again came out victorious, albeit through a penalty shootout.

Earlier this week, the red side of Nottingham were handed their third allocation of tickets for the in-demand pre-season contest. It will form a big part of pre-season plans for the two sides. For Forest, it is their opening friendly game to date, before they face Mansfield Town, Girona and Burnley before welcoming promoted Millwall to the City Ground for their Championship opener. As for Kevin Nolan’s County, who is preparing for his first full season with the club, the local rivalry clash will be their third pre-season game, then facing Wigan Athletic and York City before commencing their League Two campaign versus relegated Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.
