Gary Medel (Centre Back, Cardiff & Chile)
Gary Medel is a no nonsense defensive midfielder who can also play at the back. In August 2013 Medel signed for Cardiff City with a record fee of 11 million for the club. Making over 30 appearances for Cardiff last season the Bluebirds certainly won’t want to part with Medel now they have dropped down to the Championship. However for now, Medel is listed as a Championship player, whether it’ll stay like that we are not too sure. Rumours may start to circulate after his appearances in Brazil.
What impact will he have in the World Cup?
Medel is an essential component of the Chile defence and will be in the thick of it all in Brazil. Although the climate may suit Chile they will face tough challenges in Group B from Spain, Netherlands and Australia. Many have tipped Chile to do well in this World Cup and if so it would be fantastic for the 3 Chile Football League stars in the72’s team.
