Bolton Wanderers likely to miss out on Newcastle United striker

According to the ChronicleLive, Bolton Wanderers look likely to miss out on bringing Newcastle United’s Adam Armstrong to the Macron Stadium.

It’s rumoured that Phil Parkinson’s side wanted to bring the striker to Lancashire on a loan deal but the deal is unlikely to go ahead. This is due to the fact that Bolton would reportedly struggle to afford to pay a percentage of the striker’s wages as part of the loan deal.

The striker has been on two loan spells to the Football League in the last two seasons, moving to Coventry City on loan in the 2015/16 season and then Barnsley last season.

The five-foot-eight striker had an amazing impact on loan at the Sky Blues, scoring 20 goals in 40 games which set Coventry City up for a play-off push for the majority of the season, ultimately falling short in the end.

Last season, Barnsley opted to bring the striker to Oakwell on a season-long loan deal where he made 34 appearances for the Tykes. The 20-year old scoring six goals in 34 appearances for the Championship outfit and again, impressed many clubs with his blistering pace and goalscoring ability.

The young striker is currently part of the England under-20 set-up and has a bright future ahead of him. The striker’s representatives have been informed that he is unlikely to be a regular part of Rafael Benitez’s first team plans this season with Newcastle back in the Premier League although the striker has featured 15 times for Newcastle in the Premier League in the past.

This means the striker looks set to return to the Championship on a loan spell for this upcoming season, but Bolton appear to have ruled themselves out of the race for the young talent.
