QPR set to let midfielder leave with Peterborough his likely destination

According to West London Sport, QPR have said that midfielder Michael Doughty can leave the club if Peterborough United can agree on personal terms with the midfielder.

The 24-year-old midfielder has only made 12 appearances for QPR during his last seven years with the London side.

Doughty has been on eight different loan spells during his time at QPR and after progressing through the youth ranks at Loftus Road may finally be set for a permanent move away from London.

The midfielder has made 142 professional appearances for nine different sides but now looks set to sign permanently at Peterborough United – providing a deal can be agreed.

Doughty has spent the last four seasons on loan in League One at Stevenage, Gillingham and Swindon Town, making a combined total of 93 appearances, scoring 10 goals.

The midfielder featured for QPR when they were in the Premier League in the 2014/15 season but since has failed to make a significant impact at Loftus Road.

According to West London Sport, QPR have reportedly agreed on a deal with Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen. With the midfielder appearing set to move to Loftus Road, it means that Doughty is surplus to Ian Holloway’s requirements. Josh Scowen featured prominently for Barnsley last season and was a regular in their midfield, featuring on 44 occasions over the whole of the last campaign. This means that Doughty is likely to make way as Holloway tries to rejuvenate and reorganise QPR’s side for the upcoming season.

Peterborough transfer-listed 11 players at the end of last season with the club seemingly wanting a complete overhaul in summer. Doughty could be an assured, young signing who would bring Championship pedigree to London Road for the upcoming season.
