Blackburn ‘highly likely’ to complete midfielder signing from QPR

According to West London Sport, Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ben Gladwin is closing in on a move to Sky Bet League One side Blackburn Rovers. Tony Mowbray added another midfielder in the form of Bradley Dack from Gillingham yesterday.

Gladwin has plenty of experience of football at that level from his time at Swindon Town over four separate spells, three being on loan. The 25-year-old last appeared in a QPR shirt back in January, ironically during a 2-1 home defeat against Blackburn.

The move is now ‘highly likely’ to go through, with Gladwin holding talks with representatives at Ewood Park over the last week or so. He has found it hard to settle and really stamp his authority since making the move to Loftus Road, returning to former club Swindon on loan quite regularly. He has now returned to League One under Mowbray, who’ll be looking to his soon-to-be new creative midfielder to have a major impact.

He managed just 14 matches in a Hoops jersey, eight of those coming off the bench. He failed to score during that time, but a move at this stage of the career will surely benefit him. The Young Englishman was seen as one of the bright and upcoming stars in the lower leagues a few seasons ago when helping Swindon reach the League One Play-Off Final. Defeat to Preston followed, but so did a move to QPR, which ultimately proved to be a failure. Dropping back down a level should see him restore his confidence as he looks to guide Rovers back into the second tier at the first time of asking.
