Leeds United fans have been spoiled with transfers so far this summer with loan-to-permanent deals for Hadi Sacko and Pontus Jansson and a permanent deal for Mateusz Klich.
Today also saw United capture youngster Madger Gomes from Liverpool, ostensibly for the Under-23s but with a view to training with the first team squad. There’s also a firm interest being shown in Werder Bremen stopper Felix Wiedwald and FC Lugano striker Ezgjan Alioski.
But it is another forward that Leeds fans are almost willing over the line in Huesca’s Samu Saiz, scorer of 12 La Segunda goals during Huesca’s last campaign. Leeds were said close to his capture over the weekend, but caution was given by some observers – this caution continues to be given.
According to @jorgepuyuelo Samu Saiz is expected to join #LUFC by the end of next week. The money will allow Huesca to fund their own moves.

Yahoo Sport journalist Gaffney references AS writer Jorge Puyuelo that Saiz will arrive “by the end of next week” and that Leeds’ capture will allow Huesca to fund moves for a shortlist of other players said to have been drawn up by the second tier club.

Puyuelo himself, writing in AS which is one of Spain’s major sport daily publications, adds more colour to the starkness of this situation. He says that the transfer of “Samu Saiz will go through over the next week” and that the “most likely destination is Leeds United.”
Puyuelo goes on to say that Leeds’ financial outlay will be €3.5 million, an amount that will beat off competition of La Liga sides such as Eibar who had been coveting his signature. Huesca will have to split the money received with Atletico Madrid, who have half rights in the exciting forward.
The 50% split of the fee that Leeds will pay is the largest received by Huesca for a player sale, and will be used to strengthen the side wit ha shortlist of five players drawn up by Huesca’s sporting director.
Leeds United fans are chomping at the bit to get the Saiz deal over the line, but it seems that they will have to bide their time a little longer according to AS writer Puyuelo.
